Chapped Lips are characterized by dry, cracked, flaky and sore lips that can affect people from time to time at any time of the year. Dehydration can be the main reason behind dry and chapped lips. It is the water that keeps you hydrated in summers throughout the day, feeling you better and fresh. To keep your skin twinkling, fresh and happy, you need to drink at least 8-10 glasses of water per day, this keep you hydrated and you will experience fewer skin problems. Also, water helps flushing out harmful toxins out of the body, keeping your skin soft and glowing.
Aloe Vera Gel
The healing qualities of aloe vera are well known. Putting a small amount of aloe vera gel on your lips daily will help them heal and relieve the pain. Aloe vera gel has an unpleasant taste but its amazing healing quality is worth it.
Application of castor oil, several times a day, is also a good treatment for severely dry and chapped lips. You can also apply a mix of few drops of lemon juice and glycerine before going to bed. It should be washed off with a cotton ball, soaked in warm water.
Glycerin and Honey
Honey and glycerin will help to prevent wrinkles and dry skin. You need to take a teaspoon of honey and add very few drops of glycerin to it. Apply this mixture on the lips and leave it on for 15 minutes. Wash it off with normal water. Apply a few drops of glycerin again and leave it over night. This tip is extremely useful and prevents the lips from wrinkling.
Milk cream is again a natural moisturizer. Apply fresh milk cream on your lips for few minutes every day and gently wash your lips with a cotton ball dipped in lukewarm water.
Moisturize with Coconut Oil
One of the most effective natural treatment coconut oil can help in treating chapped lips to a great extent. It hydrates chapped lips and brings them back to life. Apply coconut oil on lips two to three times a day for better results. Olive oil or mustard oil can also be used with the same effect.
Petroleum jelly is also very effective in treating dry lips. Simply apply some petroleum jelly over your dry lips several times a day to keep them well protected. It is recommended to apply petroleum jelly on the dry lips before going to bed in order to keep the lips well nourished during the night. Else you can first put a light coat of honey on the lips and allow it to dry for a few seconds and then apply a light coat of petroleum jelly. Wait for a few minutes and then remove it using a cotton ball dipped in warm water. Repeat this remedy twice daily.
Another simple and natural solution for chapped lips is cucumber. Either cucumber juice or a slice of cucumber can be applied over lips to make them gentle and soft. This is the best cure for dry lips.
